Who moved my cheese

'Change' atau perubahan satu perkataan yang kalau disalah praktikkan boleh menjadi baik atau buruk. berubah menjadi baik atau berubah mendai kurang baik. Teringat masa saya bekerja di PETRONAS, masa tu kecoh pasal outsourcing. Ex-boss saya menyarankan untuk membaca buku "Who Moved my Cheese" by Dr Spencer Johnson

The gist of the book its about changing.

Begitu juga dengan our personal life. "Old habits die hard". Memang betul susah nak mengubah sesuatu yang dah menjadi habit. Contoh habit merokok. Cuba tanya perokok tegar, susah nak lepaskan habit merokok.

Do a little change but persistenly. It will gradually become a habit. Got it?

Contoh perokok, kalau nak berhenti merokok. Mungkin mula-mula kurangkan bilangan rokok sehari. Mula-mula kurangkan 10% kemudian 30%, lama-lama 100%.

Berubah untuk kebaikan, insyaAllah ada jalannya. Yes we can ;)

Apa-apa pun sebabnya, cara kita boikot kena lah betul caranya.

Si polan A hanya boikot Mekdi dan si polan B pula boikot semua produk USA. Memang betul.

Si B pula beranggapan disebabkan USA menyokong Israel dan menyalurkan dana ke Israel maka semua produk USA mesti diboikot. Bagi dia memang betul. USA menyalurkan dana dgn menggunakan the tax payer money.

Tapi dlm situasi pemahaman si B, the fund is indirectly given to israel.

Tapi itulah pemahaman si B. Jadi apa2 pun sebab musabab kita nak boikot,  Janganlah sampai bergaduh hingga memutuskan silaturrahim.

Jangan jadikan mereka mcm pesalah kerana tak boikot. Masing2 ada sebab mereka tersendiri. Kita terus nasihati mereka dan mana tau slowly they will accept.

Kalau nak boycott janganlah seasonal.

I want my Nasi Lemak

I still remember those canteen operators in CBN be it primary or secondary. Although I didn’t have nasi lemak everyday during schooldays (just because my mom used to prepare my bekal), but the fact that lepaking at canteen sounds good J. Does nasi lemak contributes to obesity? Yes and No. takat makan sekali sehari,I don’t think the effect is obesity. Besides, kids need more energy which majority comes from carbohydrate which eventually comes from rice. Nasi lemak is a soo Malaysian kind-of-breakfast food. No one should take it away from the Malaysian.

*pic googled

What the government should do it to ban the selling of junk food, sweets, and chocolates in school. Sugar is the main contributor to obesity. Plus these things don’t have any nutrition. Unlike Nasi lemak – u have egg (protein), Cucumber (fiber), rice (carb).

Fast food as well should not be advertised anywhere in school. I do remember back then, bila ada event like Sports Day ke mesti ada KFC etc. See See..baik bagi nasi lemak than KFC rite?

So please don’t take away Nasi Lemak in schools or else the kids will forget the taste of Malaysian Food!

It has been 25 years...n yet we still want to build it

Today marked the 25th year since the Chernobyl nuclear plant explosion on 26th April 1986. I didn't know much about the Chernobyl nuclear explosion till Japan faced almost-similar nuclear crisis. Googled it and reading the chronology and the after effect saddened me. How can human could possibly think of building nuclear reactor knowing how dangerous it is. The after effect will last thousand of years!

When Japan's nuclear crisis has just began and Malaysia has decided to build nuclear plant. Aduyai..
Sebijak2 orang Jepun pun takleh nk contained the nuclear reaction. Are we ready to build it? Not to look down on our peoples' capabilities, but it is a wise decision? It is really worth it?
Hopefully the government will make a thorough study before firmly deciding on building a nuclear plant.

Things that you should NOT do while driving

We often hear the slogan
-          Don’t Drink & Drive - specifically NOT to drink alcohol
-          Don’t use your phone while driving
Actually there are 1001 things that you shouldn’t do while driving. What are those?
    1.      Do not eat while driving – bayangkan tengah2 mkn sambil drive, ayam KFC yg dimakan terjatuh, mau tak menggelabah nak carik manakah jatuh ayam itu? Saying kan ayam KFC jatuh. Last2 sendiri masuk longkang.

    2.      Do not drink while driving – this is not for alcohol drinks only. It should be applied to all kinda drinks. Imagining yourself tengah sedap-sedap minum caramel cappuccino yang masih panas..suddenly ada keta honk. You terkejut, zass, your lap rasa panas terkena cappuccino yang tumpah. Akibatnya, terlanggar kereta kat depan.

    3.      Do not drive when you are not emotionally stable – This is so true, esp ladies. If you just got a fight with your bf/hubby, please do not drive. You may end up accelerating and driving like mad (hahahhaa, macam pernah buat je). Do not let your emotion clouds your driving senses.

    4.      Do not pump while driving – this is applicable to nursing moms. i understand that you wouldn’t wanna miss any chances of pumping your milk for your baby. Although, you maybe using Madela Freestyler pump, just imagine, suddenly botol terjatuh ke. Dek sayangkan susu yang tumpah, dah tk concentrate driving. Just adjust your schedule properly n don’t do it while driving.

    5.      Do not makeup while driving – this is totally for women drivers (ke ada lelaki yang makeup? eerrr). Maybe you don’t have enough time to makeup at home. But how can you concentrate doing your makeup while driving. Ok lah, you maybe doing makeup while stuck in the traffic. Tengah-tengah apply mascara, kereta dah start moving.then ur mascara smudged sebab tergelabah kena honk orang belakang. Dari nak masuk gear D termasuk gear R. pastuh tekan minyak….dah buat scene di pagi hari.

Okay, only 5 Don’t for now..the list can go on…

Some may say that you will not get into these troubles. But trust me; it may at least slightly distract your concentration while driving. We are human, humans are prone of doing mistakes. So if you can avoid, please avoid doing other things while driving. The concentration should be on the road. Eyes on the road, baby!
    Till then, Drive safely!

3 shops - when i entered i wont go out empty handed

Women always be associated as shopping machine aka shopaholic. We have extra nafsu from men rite? so we do love shopping but not only for cloth, shoes and bags. We do shop for groceries, toiletries, etc. There are 3 shops that if i go inside, i will definitely buy something!! just couldnt help it

    1. Bakery

I love bread!! Love the smell of bread, especially yang baru masak. Yummy kann. memang i have a thing with bread. I can live with bread alone. Masuk bakery memang akan beli something walaupun perut dah kenyang.

    2. Supermarket

When you are a wife and a mother, automatically you would be the chef in the house. So supermarket is like heaven on earth for women...hehehhe..you can get everything you needed for the household! My favorite section is the wet section where you can find meat, fruits, vegetables. Some people like to go to pasar borong or pasar basah. I love it too because its cheaper, fresher with wider variety. But as a working mother, shopping at supermarket is more convenient for me.

    3. Pharmacy

Kalau masuk Guardian or Watson, ada je benda nak beli. I pun pelik tapi its true. Ada la benda yang dah habis. Be it for myself, hubby or the kids. Paling cikai pun i akan beli mineral water..hahahahha. See what a truly shopaholic a woman can be.

    Kes Ragut

Yesterday i witnessed snatch thief in action for the second time. It happened in front of my office. This chinese man was walking with his friend. Pakaian sempoi je with paper bag. And suddenly datang this one mamat rempit snatched his handphone. He was not talking on the phone but he was just holding his phone in his palm. This mamat rempit terus merempit and this chinese man tried to kejar him. Luckily the handphone fell off on the road. tergamam kejap tengok the incident. It happened so fast.

Actually it was not the first time it happened at the same spot. It happened before to couple of my colleagues. That place macam jadi hot spot tempat orang nak meragut.
Some tips for ladies and reminder for myself
    - kalau ada kaki lima, jalan kat atas kaki lima. jangan la jalan kat atas jalanraya.
    - if jalan kat kaki lima make sure jalan side yang jauh dari jalanraya.
    - Kalau pakai handbag, pakai kat tangan yang not facing jalanraya
    - avoid talking on the phone kalau tengah jalan.

    Nostalgia Menulis Surat

Today in the HotChat (HotFM), they were talking about Nostalgia Menulis Surat. Hahhahaha...bila ingat balik zaman dulu-dulu mana ada email, facebook, twitter ni. Handphone pun tak secanggih and semurah sekarang. So the main communication media adalah surat. Handwritten ok. Sebab time tu computer pun tak semurah sekarang. Teringat zaman duduk kat boarding school dulu, kalau dapat surat je melonjak kegembiraan. Suka bangat dapat surat. Hati berbunga-bunga, walaupun dari kekawan dari sekolah lama. heehhee..tapi part membalas kekadang malas :). Kalau dulu jarang sangat tulis surat kat parents, sebab lagi suka call or terus je balik rumah. Tapi time University dah ada boifren, kalau dapat surat tu hati memang berbunga-bunga. Time ni rajin skit tulis surat. Seminggu sekali!

But now, mana ada lagi orang tulis surat. Now dah ada facebook. Nak tanya khabar pun thru facebook. Dah kurang dah the feel kan. That's the effect of technology on us.

I remember masa amik IELTS, masa tu kira dah keje setahun dua. So kira dah lama tak pegang pen dan mengarang. Yelah keje ngan komputer je, skit2 type. When i took the exam bertulis, berpeluh-peluh tangan nak menulis short essay. Tangan jadi kaku seh, Tulisan jangan cakap la..kalah cakar ayam. Memang mendalam jugak effect teknologi ni. dah biasa menaip, tetiba kena menulis - memang fail!

But its not all bad about the technology.

World Cup is Over...And Spain Won

    Yeay, Spain is the champion.
And now i need to adjust my sleep time again. I'm not a great fan of football, but when it comes to World Cup i'll make sure i watch it. World Cup is much different from EPL or Euro cup. You cant predict which team would win. Unlike EPL, you are more or less would know who would win. Lagipun World Cup happens once in every 4 years so why not watch it. And i'm so like need to readjust my biological clock. dah tunggang terbalik ni

    Al Fatihah

When i was in primary school, my parents would send me to my grandma house for a week during the school holidays, without fail. At that time, i thot my parents were punishing me. I resented but i didn't object. I learnt a lot of living in 'kampung'. In the morning, i would feed the chicken and went to mini pasar to buy some groceries and breakfast. In the evening, i would do some gardening - watering the plants or tanam pokok. And at night, mengaji and massage my grandma. The living-in-kampung routine went on till i was in lower secondary school.

When i went to boarding school, the routine stopped. Yabedabedu. I was happy...but when i went back to kampung on Tuesday, the memory flashed in front of me. But this time, it was different. On 29th June 2010, my beloved grandma passed away. Al Fatihah.

Tips when your car was stolen

We lost our car in April. Bulan 4 memang takde ONG la. We were getting ready to go to work then suddenly Mr Hubby came rushing to me and say " Sayang, kereta takde". At first i thot he was joking (post April Fool) but apa kes nak joke pasal kereta hilang di pagi hari kan? Memang betul, the car was gone!!! we parked right in front of the house but its outside the gate. Among all the cars parked on the road, ours was the target. I was shocked and furious! It took me several days to accept the fact that the car has gone forever.
So just tips share some tips when you lose your car..

    1. Do a police report. It is best if you could go to the nearest police station to the crime scene. the one that covers your area. Not Pondok polis yeee..We were panic up to the point we went to a further police station. We couldn't even think the nearest police station. Last-last after buat police report kena redirect to the nearest balai polis because the investigator needs to be in the same jurisdiction. After meeting with the investigator, then only they open a case. They will ask all sorts of questions la.
When we did the police report, i felt that we just need to report it for the sake of insurance and not so much of hoping that the police would investigate it. formality only. Even though its the police job to help us find the culprit kann..tapi whateva la

    2. Call your insurance agent/company. - Tell them that your car has been stolen. They would ask for the police report and insurance policy. So fax it to them.

    3. Call your bank (if necessary) - it may not be necessary because you still have to pay the installment even tho car gone already. Sakit hati kann..paying for something yang takde...uhuk uhuk..what to do

    4. If you have any documents, ATM cards, bank cards, etc in the car make sure you called all the necessary parties to make cancellation.

    5. After few days (depends), your insurance agent will appoint adjuster. Adjuster ni mcm investigator on behalf of insurance agents. They would need copies of your IC, driving license, pictures of your all the keys (including duplicates). They would also come the the crime scene and take some pictures. Police pun tak datang k. Adjuster will then submit a report to the insurance company for further actions

    6. Sila harass your insurance agent/company..keep calling them asking for status. Please be annoying. or else memang lambat laaa dapat claim. Usually it would take min 4 months to claim. In our case Alhamdulillah, we already got the offer within 2 months. They offered us a good price laaa. Tetapi......

    7. Insurance company would need more documents from you - Letter from your financier, your keys, and final police investigation report. Please bear in mind yaaa...police will only release the investigation report minimum 3 months after the initial report.. so memang takde harapan la nak dapat claim awal dari itu yeee..So we wait...

Moral of the story - please consider installing Captor atau seangkatan dengan nya to avoid these kinds of hassles. Memang sangat sedih bila kereta hilang. It has been with us since we were about to get married. Kira sempat la merasa dating sebelum kahwin ngan kereta tuh.. Too many memories..Plate number yang paling sayang :(. Tapi nak  buat macam mana kena redha. Itu adalah satu ujian for me.

dua, empat, lapan, seploh??? pick you number

    image googled

When I got married, I never really put a thought on how many children I want to have. Alhamdulillah, I’ve got 2 kids. To get another one now? Not in my mindset at the moment. Does it matter how many kids you produce? Or the quality of the kids you produce? Kalau ikutkan salasilah keluarga Mr Hubby, memang besar – Quantity. And Alhamdulillah it comes with Quality. Tapi itu zaman 60s-70s. But now raising a kid is not cheap. People may debate - anak itu rezeki. But kenalah kita ukur baju di badan sendiri. To give the best to your kids is not cheap anymore. Sending Muqtasaem to kindergarten alone cost me RM200 a month. Ini baru umuq 3 tahun. The cost gets higher as he ages. Itupun I got him to a less expensive kindergarten. There are kindergartens charging up to RM600 a month or maybe more for a 3 years old kid.

As a parent, you would want to give the best to your kids. Best milk, best clothes, best education, best lifestyle..segala mak nenek la nak yang the BEST. anak seorang dua - manageable, but lima, lapan, seploh orang???? Mau mak bapak kena kerja siang malam. For parents living in KL, its not easy to raise a big family. You CAN, but its not easy. It requires a lot of sacrifices. So it comes back to quantity or quality.

Speaking from my own experience, having two kids pun I could not concentrate on them 100%. Monitor their growth and development pun tak terkejar. Imagine having more than 5 kids. I totally respect parents with lots of kids and yet still manage to produce quality ones – educated, high moral values. Berjaya membahagikan kasih saying seadil-adilnya. Susah! So if I were to asked, quality or quantity? I would choose quality. But I still got certain limit on quantity. I may not satisfy with 2 kids but maybe 4 kids, keyword MAYBE.

    Malaysia Atau China????

if you were to ask me if like to watch badminton. No & Yes. NO because saya tak suka menda-menda yang buat saya cepat nervous. Nervous hokay tengok game badminton ni. rasa macam nak luruh jantung bila tengok shuttlecock macam tak boleh diselamatkan. Adrenaline rush.

YES because its one (or is it the ONLY ONE) that Malaysia is good at. Although IMHO, as a team we are still not strong but at least we have 1 or 2 good players.
So malam ni, siapakah akan menang? We will see it LIVE!! yeay..

Why you talk like that one?

I overheard a conversation between two teenagers yesterday. It sounds like a typical conversation. But what really annoyed me is the fact that every sentence that came out from their month contains vulgar or not to nice words. "Eh b*bi la ngko ni". "ko nak makan apa, s**l". "p**t*t mak ngko ahh".

Astaghfirullah. How can they even think to construct such sentences? Mau terasa cikgu Bahasa Melayu kat sekolah. Tak pernah pulak keluar dalam paper SPM ayat-ayat sebegitu. But these conversations are normal among teenagers. Terasa cool kot cakap macam tu. Cool ke? Kalau dah terbiasa cakap macam tu, mau depan mak ayah pun terkeluar ayat-ayat sebegitu. Kalau anak i, mau kena penampar barang dua kerat.

If we were to analyze whats the underlying reasons, it may resulted from the conversations they overheard from the parents. Parents pun cakap macam tu, anak-anak pun ingat biasa la. I always reminded myself not to utter negative words in front of the kids. Kids are like sponge, they absorb but they do not filter.

Influence by the peers and fear of not fitting in, makes these teenagers use those words. It's not u does fit in, its just you chose the wrong friends. So as parents we really need to by Miss Nosy Parker. Know who your kids' friends.

BTW, I sempat sound budak-budak tuh, "Apa la guna ayat-ayat macam tu". Terdiam sekejap. ish ish...budak-budak zaman sekarang!

When was the last time you ride on a taxi?

When was the last time you ride on a taxi?
Last week, I was on public transport for a week. I noticed that in (some) taxis, there is a list of rules to be adhered by the taxi drivers.

    Some interesting points
    1. Driver not to leave driving seat.
-- kalau tengah drive, mmg la cannot leave d seat kan
-- if passengers need help to load luggage, cannot help ka? Hhmmm

    2. Shall not carry passenger in excess 5 ppl including driver.
-- huhuhuhu i pernah naik sampai 6 org.. Siap beg pakcik taxi

    3. Shall proceed to destination named by hirer by the shortest and most direct route.
-- some taxi drivers will ask, which road to use. My typical answer-- jalan yg tak jam!!

    4. Touting is prohibited
-- u will always see this happening at klcc. I tell you, taxi drivers at klcc tak pandang langsung locals, tunggu tourist je. Kalau u nak gak naik, they already set d fare upfront. Tak patut betul

So if u happen to meet taxi drivers that do not adhere with these rules, you can lodge complaints.

    I'm hooked!

Bab-bab games, i memang ketinggalan keretapi. i'm not really a game person. Reason?
    1. I'm afraid that i wont do anything, but play the games..
    2. I tak suka the adrenaline rush bila main game...nak kejar masa la, nak kejar points laa..tak suka.. (tapi main gak)

I guess most of the people out there, have came across Bejeweled. Ada tak? sila jangan angkat tangan. And yes, i just downloaded the game recently and i'm totally hooked!. ni yg malas k. Siap bergaduh ngan anak-anak, nak main game kat iPhone. Sebelum ni i tak heran pun!

    *image googled

    So whats with this Bejeweled?
Its a game whereby you have to match the jewel according to the color. You have to match 3,4 or 5 jewels in a row. If you get 4 jewels, u build a power gem. This power gem can be used to clear a larger area. Kira dapat pecah kan lagi banyak jewels. The most powerful, if u managed to match 5 jewels in a row, a Hyper Cube will be created. How to use HyperCube? U have to carefully select the most numbered jewel and try to clear those jewel. And the jewels may not be in a row. If you are lucky, u will be clearing a larger space and gain more points.

    \
    *image googled

At first, i thought i may not be addicted. Tapi i salah k! i'm totally hooked. A colleague of mine even managed to gain 1mill in points!!! mana tak rasa tercabar kan?
But well, its just a game. Main pun untuk suka-suka. Sambil-sambil tengah tidurkan anak-anak, dapat lah mengisi masa sekejap ngan main Bejeweled.

So what's my current score? 556, 500 je. If only it can be converted to real jewel kan?

    Monday Blues

    Why Monday Blues?

    1. Sat & Sun are not enough to rejuvenate 5 days of working. Tak balance!
    2. Because our weekend is spent to do personal things i.e grocery shopping, family outing. These activities are also tiring. So by Monday, pun still penat. So need Monday off as well :D
    3. Two days lazing at home doing nothing.Mind stop working. so by Monday nak start engine lambat panas!
    4. Its all in the mindset. Sebab dah stamp dalam kepala..Monday mesti bluesssss
    5. Sebab dah boring dgn kerja sekarang :D
    6. Sebab duduk rumah lagi best! walaupun actually penat melayan anak2
    7. Sebab malas bangun pagi utk pergi keje setelah 2 hari bangun lambat
    8. dan bermacam2 sebab lagi :D

So lets change to Monday Rocks!!!!

    Orang kampung

Do you notice most of d elderly people who are living in kampung is healthy? Despite of their age, they can still do chores. See this picture

This pic was taken from my bedroom window in Ipoh. An old man tengah menebas rumput. Looking at his appearance, he must be 70s-80s in age.
But look at him, at this age he is still steadily menebas rumput at his backyard.
That's why the older generation are healthy. Lets assess our current lifestyle. How often do we exercise? For those who signed up for gym membership, how often do you really go?
What do we do during our free time? Err gi ukur shopping mall perhaps? Or watch tv?
What will happen to us when we reach the golden age? Something we need to think about :)
