My Experience delivering Nadhirah at home

It was Wednesday and I was on medical leave. From my previous experience I would deliver a week in advance. Thus my Gynae gave me a week of medical leave before my EDD. While hubby was at work, i lepak-lepak at my mom’s place. At around 5-6 p.m I started to feel the contraction. However it was not frequent. I got the feeling that I’m gonna deliver that nite. SMSed hubby telling him that I mite deliver that nite. 

Hubby picked me up and we went home to get my hospital bag. We left Muqtasaem at my mom’s place. We didn’t go to the hospital directly. We had our Isya’ prayers and dinner. Only then my contractions were frequent. Hubby wanted to get a shower first before leaving. So while waiting, I was lying on the bed sambil menggunakan breathing technique untuk tahan sakit.

Suddenly terdengar bunyi ‘pop’ and my kain basah. And I know my water just broke. I jerit panggil hubby saying that I dah nak beranak and that I can feel the baby’s head. Memang betul la orang cakap, rasa macam nak buang air besar. I asked hubby to call ambulance. That time, I memang cannot tahan the urge to push. I pushed twice and baby dah keluar. That time hubby was on the phone with my mom. My mom punya terkejut dengar suara baby.

Luckily my bro in law was living with us. Hubby asked for his help to call the neighbour. The neighbour’s wife helped me hold the baby. The baby cord was still intact. Hubby had to call a doctor which happened to be my bro in law fiancé at that time. So with her help, hubby cut off the cord. Tapi uri still kat dalam. I breastfed my baby for a while je.. tak tahan sakit sebab uri still kat dalam. When my mom arrived, I told my mom I cudnt tahan the pain. Then she braved herself to pull off the uri. Alhamdulillah, uri tercabut without any complications. Baru I rasa lega. After everything settled, then only the ambulance came. And guess what, 3 ambulances came and they took 45 minutes to arrive!

My baby and I were examined by the midwife before we were brought to the hospital. It was my first experience being pushed in a stretcher and being in an ambulance.I was lucky that my Gynae was on call that nite, and I’m her 7^th patients for the nite.

My nightmare was not over yet. The gynae had to clean up all the blood and I was only allowed to use the gas to ease the pain. Sungguh sakit. I think because I already recover from sakit beranak for a while, then when the gynae nak bersihkan blood inside my womb the pain was excruciating. Nasib baik la, my feet was strapped to the bed. Or else, memang kena tending la gynae tuh. I rasa I sedut gas tu sampai I pengsan.

My baby on the other hand had to go through series of testing. Yelah beranak in a not-sterilized environment. It took few hours before she could be with me.

Alhamdulillah, everything was fine despite the drama that we have gone through. 

And that’s when Nadhirah was born to the world on 9^th July 2008.

And because of this incident, we would never sell the house. It’s a reminder of where Nadhirah was born.

Its a BIG NOOOO to dresses

I am having a problem dressing my girl. Pelik tak? Usually a mother's dream is to have a daughter so she can dress her up. From head to toe - there are a lot of flowery accesories, colourful princess-like dresses and cute shoes.

But my problem is my daughter does not like to wear dresses! Siap menangis melalak everytime i nak pakaikan dress. Drama queen nye melalak, satu kampung leh dengar. She will only stop crying if i pakaikan tshirt and pants! Sebabnya her brother is wearing like that. Parah.. i really need to simpan all the pants and buy more dresses. Is this normal when u have an elder brother?

Appetite for feverish baby

Kids will always lose their eating appetite when they fall sick. Muqtasaem is the worst. Memang takmo makan langsung except for water and milk. I tried feeding him with all his favorite food - noodles, nuggets, curry. memang tak jalan. if he eats pun setakat 1 or 2 spoons. 

But Nadhirah on the other hand, she can still eat although she's not well. Memang takde masalah. But at the moment she was having fever and she didn't want to eat. That worries me. I tried feeding her favorite food but she would only take a bite. Even milk, she refused formula milk. Only breast milk. Dahla my breast milk pun mcm hidup segan mati tak mau (read: stock makin berkurangan). So i try umpan her with chocolates. Yes she loves chocolate. I didn't encourage it but people surrounding her keep giving her. She only took 1 bite jugak! kalau tidak tak muat tangan pegang chocolate.

Is it good to feed her ice cream? My mom said it will help reduce her temperature. But i doubt it. Tapi i bagi je la, since she wants it.

For a family with kids, it is an essential tools that you MUST have. There are a lot of types that you can purchase from the pharmacy or babies stores.

We had 2 types, but the most used ones are like something this

Apa ada pada nama

Pemberian nama kepada anak-anak adalah sesuatu yang penting. Nama yang diberikan haruslah membawa maksud yang baik. Bak kata orang "nama itu doa". Kenapa? Sebab orang akan memanggil kita dengan nama kita. Kalau nama kita membawa maksud baik, bermakna orang tu telah mendoakan kita yang baik-baik.

Contohnya, kalau nama kita "syukran" yg membawa maksud "yang bersyukur". Maka setiap kali kawan-kawan memanggil Syukran, mereka telah mendoakan kita - yang bersyukur. Secara tidak langsung membentuk peribadi kita menjadi orang yang sentiasa bersyukur. InsyaAllah.
Tapi jangan pulak disingkatkan nama jadi "Syuk" @ "shark". Yelah nama glamour. Dah bawak maksud lain.

Masa nak pilih nama anak-anak, i bagi requirement:

a. single name - no Ahmad, no Mohd etc
b. 3 suku kata. Not too short n not too long
c. Doesnt start with A or Z. Sebab i dah rasa mcm mana nama start dari A. Nama A yg selalu kena panggil dulu. Mr Hubby plak start with Z. Selalu je last kena panggil.

Maka terhasil lah
1. Muqtasaem yang membawa maksud "pegangan yang teguh". Ni Mr Hubby yang pilih.
2. Nadhirah yang membawa maksud "berseri-seri". Ni i yang pilih.

Simple. Yang penting kena panggil penuh. Kalau ada 2 nama pun, letih mulut nak sebut semua kan? Last-last terus jadi 'nama glamour' yang dah takde maksud.

Bila chicken pox menyerang

Patient : Gatal-gatal, cannot sleep, less appetite
Mama : Sleepless nites!

Thats the equation when our children is sick. The Moms will always be the one looking like a zombie taking care of our lil ones. Its not that we are complaining, but that the sacrifices that we have to make. Kesian tengok anak-anak bila diaorang sakit. Rasa macam let us feel the pain but not them.
Nadhirah was having fever on Thursday. The fever was quite high but we thought its just a normal fever. Then on Friday nite, as i was changing her diapers then only i realized there are few red spots at her lower body. a few at her hands. But nothing on the upper body or face.

My mom said, its chicken pox. So i lumurkan her body with bedak sejuk for the nite. Before that she kept showing me there is something in her mouth. But everytime i asked her to open her mouth for me to take a look, she bite me! So after seeing red spots on her body, i suspected she had some ulcer in her mouth as well. That explains the lost of appetite. Kesian betul! She could not sleep well. Kept on screaming and crying every 2 3 hours. Mama nya pun sama la terjaga.

When she fall sick, she kept on clinging on me. Tak mau langsung orang lain. Itu yang agak letih.
We gave her some cococunt drink the next day. Petua orang-orang tua supaya the chicken pox keluar habis. But then, no red spots on her upper body.

Alhamdulillah now she is recovering and yesterday she slept quite well and so did her mama. Yeay! If she's still screaming last nite, alamatnya mama kena amik Emergency Leave today.

Mata Sepet Ku

Last weekend Nadhirah woke up with 1 sepet eye. It was not too obvious. At first i thought it may be because of semut. I just sapukan my breast milk to her eyes.

Then next morning, her eye lagi sepet. The bengkak lagi besar. So i decided to take her to the clinic. Doctor checked her eyes and asked a few questions like
- Ada taik mata? No
- Mata dia berair tak? No
- Dia garu-garu mata tak? No

She was perfectly fine. She played as usual and seems couldn't be bothered with her swollen eyes. The doctor didn't find any habuk or anything. So basically, doctor pun tak sure what cause her swollen eye. The doctor gave eye drop to be taken 4 times a day. And Alhamdulillah after 2 drops, her eyes are getting back to normal.
I pun confuse what cause her swollen eye. Any ideas?

We bought this toy at Toys R Us. I think it cost about RM39. It teaches the kids about colors, shapes and counting 1 to 5.

Nadhirah was too occupied with it. And she did it on her own, without us teaching her how to do it. You Go Girl!

We bought Combi stroller when Muqtasaem was born.

A year and a half later, when Nadhirah was born a thought of buying another stroller came into mind. Maybe a double stroller like these

However, we do not need these when, the kids opted a better 'transportation'....

KizSports & Gym

Last Sunday, we woke up a lil bit early. Had Nasi Dagang at Taman Melati and off we go to Great Eastern Mall. Not so much to shop but our main objective was to visit Kizsports & Gym . It was located at Level 2. The entrance fee for below 2 years old is RM10 (weekend per entry) and RM25 (weekend per entry) for kids above 2 years old. Quite expensive though. Luckily I brought socks for the kids. All kids and adults have to wear socks to be in the playland.

Nadhirah, being the adventurous one, directly ran towards the playland. Muqtasaem on the other hand refused to wear socks, thus "sesi pujuk memujuk" by Mr Hubby.

We were there quite early, so there were not so many kids. There were a birthday party held at one of the rooms. There were slides, pool of balls, tunnels. The kids love the ball pool the most.

Nadhirah the adventurous gal

We stayed there nearly 2 hours. Sampai lenguh-lenguh la kaki running after the kids. But it was worth it. It was a great place to go. We can actually drop the kids and go shopping but the fee would be different. Its a good concept for shopaholic mommies to shop without interruptions :)

Color Me Badd

A long weekend is a valuable time to spend with the kids. We bought them few coloring books & color pencils.



They enjoyed it..tapi biasala bukan kaler tapi more to menconteng.

Apa2 je la kan..both of them dah pandai sebut "book". When they saw me holding their books..loncat2 sebut "book".
But i can only watch them color, i'm totally prohibited from coloring. Nak pegang color pencil pun kena marah :( by the kids!!

Compared to Muqtasaem, Nadhirah is more aggressive and fierce. Just look at her face..GGRRRRRRRR

Dinner time!!

The kids are 15 months apart.sometimes they act like twins. When one is not around, the other mcm lost. They play, eat, sleep together. Buat nakal pun together. There was one time i caught them sneaked into bathroom n main air!! Senyap2 je.
During dinner time, both of them must be seated together. Or else they wont eat. We bought 1 high chair when Muqtasaem was born.assuming he wont need it anymore, we opted not to buy for Nadhirah.hhmm we were wrong. Luckily my mom ordered a rattan high chair. so now we have two high chairs at my mom's place.

One thing i noticed for quite a while, Nadhirah likes to bully her brother. See in these pictures, she took his brother's portion of corn! and let her brother cry..ish ish..

Balik kampung

On the second day of long weekend, we decided to head back to Tampin to visit my grandma. We stayed overnight and planning to stop by Pedas hot spring on the way back to KL.
Unfortunately the next morning, Muqtasaem is down with fever. So we end up 'lepaking' at 'kampung'.

KLCC park

Yesterday Mr Hubby was on MC. so he decided to take the kids to KLCC park while waiting for me. after finishing my task in the office, i went to the park. the weather was nice but little bit hot. i was walking for about 5 minutes and i was already sweating. memang musim panas kot sekarang ni. when i arrived, my two lil muchkins were chasing the birds. sungguh active. When they saw me, they ran towards me because i was holding a bottle of water. oohh...haus rupanya.

Due to current weather, it is best to ensure that the kids have enough fluid in a day. I was lucky my kids have no issue drinking plain water compared to juices. i limit their juices intake to avoid tooth decay. the kids paed always remind us not to give Ribena to the kids, due to high level of sugar. Even Mr Hubby stopped drinking Ribena.

We introduced water to kids after they were 6months old. We will ensure the water is filtered thus its good to have a good water filtering system. Since my kids stays at my parents house during the day, we installed a water filter at my mom's house as well. Due to pollution and contamination that might have penetrated to the water system, the tap water is not safe for usage. although you have boiled it, it might only killed the bacteria but the contaminants might still be there unseen. Thus its better to get the water filtered. just my 2 cents.

Gedebuk jatuh lagi

Nadhirah is becoming more aggressive and active. N sometimes she can be so garang. I was sitting on a couch watching tv with her last nite. Elok2 je dia duduk suddenly "gedebuk" and followed by a cry.
She fell off the couch!!!! I panicked for a while. Kuat jugak d sound of d fell. Grab her n hug her. I cukup risau bila dia jatuh. Afraid if her brain shaken or worst cud led to bleeding in d brain. Nauzubillah.
After checking her head and body for any injuries..i felt relief but i know i have to monitor her for d next 24 hours. Risau nye if anything happen. I normally check behind her ears for any blood clot or lebam and be alert if she throws up. Having kids of your own making u lil more aware of basic first aid..ala jadi doktor pun ada.

• A loss of consciousness. If your baby isn't breathing, have someone call 911 while you administer infant cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) until help arrives. If you're alone, give your baby CPR for two minutes, then call 911 yourself.

• Bleeding that you're unable to stop with pressure.

• If your baby is breathing but not responsive — he's unconscious after the fall or you're unable to wake him up after he goes to sleep, for example.

Take your baby to the emergency room or talk to his doctor immediately if you notice any of the following:

• Signs of a broken bone, including an obvious deformity, like a wrist that is bent awkwardly, or an arm or a leg that seems out of alignment.

• Signs of a possible skull fracture: A large, soft area on the scalp, especially on the side of the head (above or behind the ear); blood showing in the whites of his eyes; or pinkish fluid or blood draining from his nose or ears.

• Signs of a concussion, such as unusual eye movements or pupils that are unequal in size; persistent vomiting; or excessive sleepiness. Depending on your baby's age, look for a change in how he crawls or walks; weakness or confusion; or problems with speech, vision, or motor skills.

• Prolonged crying or screaming, which could indicate a possible internal injury.

Nadhirah turns 14 months

Nadhirah turns 14 months on 09.09.09. thats a special date for the year.

So far she already got 8 batang gigi and still kuat makan. one thing i noticed, she does not get crancky or fever masa tumbuh gigi. tau2 je dah ada nampak putih2 at her gusi. some people say because breastfed babies are like that. Alhamdulillah, i still managed to breastfeed her till today and am hoping till she turns 2 years old. InsyaAllah.

Oh tidak sama sekali. mahu kena lecture berjela2 by mama & walid. dan akan ditokok tambah oleh wawan n opah. ada mau? Nadhirah is going to turn 14 months soon. Some of her development so far

- can walk n now try to berlari

- she likes to panjat2..tak kira la tangga, kerusi, meja, mama, walid

- when me n hubby come home, she will wait at the door and ask us to carry her n bawak jln2 naik kereta

- she loves to eat..tapi still kurus

- a bit garang..bullying her brother

- pandai angkat handphone/house phone and buat aksi konon2 tgh berckp on the phone

- pandai kiss...this one always make my heart cair

- membebel sorang2...adik jgn jadi minah gossip sudah ler

- can only sebut mama :) walid susah skit nk sebut

- pandai merajuk i.e menangis mengada2 knowing that ada org nak pujuk..

My lil princess turns 9 months today..cepatnya. ok let see what she can do

- she can crawl

- she can panjat2 already..

- cuba mau berdiri sambil pegang

- sudah ada 2 batang gigi

- garang, especially to the brother...sgt garang okkkk...nnt if i can snap his picture tgh marah

- already know when we call out her name

so fast the time flies..i still remember the day i delivered you. what a story to tell!!! nanti la i story mori k
